Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

As we come to the end of 2015 we would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas and all the very best for 2016. This will be the last ever post on our KC blog and we hope you have enjoyed sharing in our learning journey this year as much as we have enjoyed sharing it with you. This blog will remain 'live' so you may come back and revisit whenever you wish! Gizmo would love you to feed and brush him every now and then!

Have a fabulous holiday break and please don't forget to keep reading and writing over the holidays. Enjoy our Summer Reading Challenge and remember photos are very welcome of you reading your books this summer - the photos can be posted on this page of the school website.

Let's finish off the year with our gorgeous KC children looking very festive in their Santa hats with a final Christmas holiday message. We hope you enjoy our very last KC photo slideshow.

Please take care everyone and we look forward to seeing you back at school next year on Thursday the 28th of January.

Today's 'Blue Butterfly Cafe'

16/12/2015

Today KC joined our friends in KF and K/1D in the Kinder rooms for a visit to the 'Blue Butterfly Cafe' and we weren't disappointed. It was a fabulous afternoon of fun and yummy food, while participating in a variety of wonderful activities. We were reinforcing our knowledge of coins and butterflies, but hey, it was also chance to celebrate what has been a fantastic 2015! It was a team effort, but special thanks must go to Ms Dowling who coordinated this extravaganza and emceed the party in style with her beautiful blue wings! Thanks also to our mums Maritsa, Jodie and Julie who helped out today (and survived) and joined in all the fun. Lots of photos of all the action today can be found on the 'Latest Photos' page of the school website. Lots of lovely photos of KC follow below. Enjoy!
Here are our placemats, masks, wallets (now empty), playdough butterflies and all our scrumptious food awaiting the arrival of our butterfly's body - the sausage!
The cafe is open and it's time to eat! (After a photo!)
Our butterfly masks looked spectacular!

Merry Christmas From KC!

This was meant to be posted closer to Christmas as our special Christmas message! However I made the mistake of giving KC a sneak preview of this yesterday and they wanted it on the blog NOW to show you at home. We have had lots of laughs over the last couple of days watching it. We hope you will love it too!

Our Butterfly Arrived!

10/12/2015

Our butterfly emerged from its chrysalis skin early this morning and the children were so excited to see this final stage of the butterfly life cycle. They had their photo taken with the butterfly today while its wings were drying and they also wrote their final reports for Part 5 of our 'Butterfly Diary'. KC have thoroughly enjoyed this unit of work on life cycles and have been so enthusiastic to document this wonderful journey of discovery. A fantastic effort KC!

Caterpillar and Chrysalis Action

While our two (yes two) caterpillars keep munching away, our chrysalis this afternoon had darkened considerably with the butterfly's wings visible. There may be a butterfly to greet KC in the morning!

Christmas Stories

We enjoyed making a collage of characters for a Christmas story this morning. Of course dear Grug featured in our picture as we positioned our characters and drew a background and extra details around him. After our picture was complete, we wrote about what was happening in our Christmas adventure.

Our Summer Reading Challenge

KC now feature on the 'Padlet' on the Summer Reading Challenge page on our website. It is looking a little bit lonely with only three posts so far, so please don't be shy if you come up with a good idea for a photo. The whole point of our challenge is to ensure all our children keep reading over the holiday break (and before) and enjoy immersing themselves in a new book . . . story ... adventure .... world! The photos below show our staged shot for the website, one with a big smile for the camera and then . . . the please don't disturb us pose because we are back to enjoying our books. Love it!
We hope you saw our school news blog and/or Facebook post this morning with this YouTube clip about enjoying reading; KC loved it!

While KC have been working this week we have been enjoying listening to some Christmas songs and carols. We also had some fun today making some music with the 'Reindeer Orchestra' and ringing the bells. Here they are for you to enjoy at home.

Update On Our Chrysalis

Here are a couple of photos of our chrysalis today. It's still the beautiful green colour with the golden dots. We can now see a faint outline of dark ridges inside. With this warm weather it hopefully won't be too long until our Monarch butterfly emerges!
